Aren't you cold?
“Aren’t you cold??”
I get asked this question at least once per day throughout the winter.
Slightly above freezing, way below freezing, shoveling snow, ice storm…
Whatever the winter weather, you’ll see me in shorts.
Most people think this is some kinda hard-ass thing, like I’ve got something to prove to them.
Truth is, I don’t want their attention or questions. I don’t do it for them.
I do it for me.
See, there’s one common piece of personal development advice that I think is a crock:
“Hard choices make an easy life.”
The reality is:
Life is hard. And it doesn’t get easier.
The older you get, the more responsibilities you have, the more complex life gets, and the less time you have to handle it all. (The reaper is always in the room.)
So what does this have to do with my shorts?
It’s a hard choice I make within my control— so when life gets hard outside my control, I know I’ve got what it takes to be harder than life.
And to answer the burning (or freezing?) question—
Of course, I’m cold. At times, I’m very cold. But I’m also very confident.
I know that no matter how complex life gets, I’ve made a simple choice that proves I can weather it.
Today, do me a favor. Think about your daily choices.
Do they put you in a position to be more confident… to be harder than life?
Talk soon,
Joey
P.S. I’ve got 3 core choices I make each day. I’ll give them to you in my next post.
P.P.S. Here are my favorite shorts to wear in the winter.Actually, they’re my favorite to wear in every season… of life.
